Project Spotlight: The North Houston L-Kitchen
Built to Belong. Designed to Last.

When a client in North Houston called us, he had a slab. Just a plain concrete patio behind a beautiful white brick house — no kitchen, no grill setup, nothing to gather around. He knew what he wanted though. An L-shaped outdoor kitchen where he could grill, entertain, and actually enjoy the backyard he'd been paying a mortgage on but never really living in.
The first decision we made together was the material. White brick — to match his house exactly. We don't just build kitchens that look good in isolation. We build kitchens that look like they were always supposed to be there. Once you've seen a space where everything flows from the house to the patio seamlessly, you can't unsee it.
For the countertops, we went with Fantasy Brown granite in an L-shape, with a waterfall panel feature at the end. That waterfall edge — where the stone drops straight down the side with a mitered 45-degree angle — is what takes a kitchen from nice to luxurious. The movement in that granite, the way the grey and white swirl through the stone, flows right over the edge without interruption. When it's done right, there's no seam, no gap. The stone just falls. He saw it and knew immediately that was the move.
On the build side, we installed a 36-inch grill and a flat-top griddle side by side — because when you're cooking for a crowd, you need options. Stainless access doors underneath keep everything organized and weather-tight. We added an outdoor refrigerator, a burner, and a pop-up electrical outlet that sits flush right in the granite countertop.
That last detail might sound small, but an extra surface outlet is the kind of thing that matters the first time your guests are outside and nobody's running an extension cord across the patio. We think about those things so you don't have to.
By the time we were done — about a week and a half of masonry work and painting to match everything — this client had a fully functioning outdoor room. One that matched his house like it had been in the original blueprints.
That's the goal every single time.
The Memory Behind the Build
The backyard is where memories get made. Not on the couch, not in the dining room — outside, around fire, around food, around the people you love. This client's patio was just concrete before we got there. Now it's the spot.
The place his family and friends are going to come back to, summer after summer.
That's what we're really building every time. Not just an outdoor kitchen. The reason to come home.
Culture Corner: It's BBQ Season in Houston
If you live in Houston, you already know — there is no off-season for outdoor cooking. But there's something about this time of year that gets people fired up.
The weather cooperates (mostly), the weekends feel longer, and suddenly everybody's got a reason to light the grill.
This month we're keeping it simple: get your grill grates seasoned, stock your fridge with a couple of good rubs, and invite somebody over.
The backyard doesn't need to be perfect to make a great memory. It just needs people in it.
Next issue we'll spotlight a local Houston brand we've been loving — stay tuned.
